Activision is convinced that the next instalment of the Call of Duty series is going to be amazing and impress fans of the franchise. Recently, Call of Duty releases hasn’t exceeded anyone’s expectations although the Battle Royale mode of the games latest release impressed fans for a short period of time. But it soon died out being not as a big of an impact as it was supposed to be. In fact, the most recent instalment of the COD franchise lacked a campaign mode which players felt was a big let-down.
Reveals of the franchise usually make their way around Spring every year, so there is no surprise when Activision are announcing that it will be ‘incredibly good’. Many developers share the franchise and create their version of the series year upon year, this year we see Infinity Ward back in the driver’s seat of the franchise, they previously created:
⦁ Call of Duty
⦁ Call of Duty 2
⦁ Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
⦁ Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (my personal favourite)
⦁ Call of Duty: Classic
⦁ Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
⦁ Call of Duty: Ghosts (one of the best CoDs in my opinion, however, it wasn’t well received)
⦁ Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Fans of the franchise are almost certain that it is set in the Modern Warfare universe, it is said to be “rooted in some of the franchise’s most important history”, the worldwide reveal is said to be sometime soon, and is expected to be announced later this quarter. Which will take place sometime around now up until 30th June.
Activision’s publishing president had this to say on the release of the CoD game we expect to see this year, “feel incredibly good about this year’s game coming from Infinity Ward [and] I think it’s going to be really clear why we’re really so excited about the release.”
