Fortnite Nearly Got Scrapped!

One of the most popular games of all times developed by Epic Games, Fortnite, nearly never came to be. The world would have been very different if the game changing phenomenon didn’t come to be. Fortnite practically changed the way we see gaming, from literally everyone knowing what the game is, from your grandmother to your neighbour it is on everyone’s radar. But what if I said to you that the game was going to be scrapped in its initial release.

The former director of production over at Epic Games, Rod Fergusson was the man behind one of the most controversial decisions that you would question now, no doubt.

He said at E3, “If I stayed at Epic, I would have canceled Fortnite. Absolutely, before I left, I tried to cancel Fortnite. When it was just ‘Save the World,’ that was a project that had some challenges. As the director of production at the time, that game would not have passed my bar for something we should have continued to keep going.”

The reason behind Fergusson wanting to scrap Fortnite, was down to the Save The World Fortnite game. At the time the game didn’t seem like it was gaining any speed, the issues outweighed the pros. However the Battle Royale aspect of the game was really where the game peaked. Even now the Save The World aspect, is pretty popular to some however others felt that it lacked content compared to the everlasting updates that the Battle Royale mode receives.
