Racing games seem to be the next big esports that both gaming and motorsports fans are beginning to hype up. Being able to unite the world of racing as well as gaming is a great opportunity to grow a massive multi channel following! It appeals to a market that FPS and MOBAs cannot.
BMW recently hosted their first competition which attracted over 140 teams for an endurance event in iRacing.
The competition was a two-hour race, where The Williams Formula 1 team’s Esports squad managed to take the top spot. This isn’t like other racing games as strategies for fuel pitstops and tire changes are all included in the calculations. Laurin Heinrich and Alexander Voss took the top-split in the iRacing event, driving for the Williams Esports.
The prize for the event was for two pairs of BMW VIP tickets for the 2019 24hours of Le Mans.
We’ve seen crossover of Fifa and real world football, racing is now taking off, what do you think is next? Hit us up in the comments and let us know your thoughts!
